DRAWN & DRAWN out

DRAWN, our house party/gallery show last night was a lot of fun. It was really nice to put work up around the place and have friends come and check it out. Ghetto-Chic black electrical tape framing? Part of the fun was seeing who responded to which work - and it was pretty interesting. As far as my work went, a lot of the late-addition stuff that initially left out sold quickly, and some of my favourites are still available.

This has led me to continue the show, as I'm home for the next few days collecting submissions and doing the final organization for the Sketchy Retro.

DRAWN studio purge details

The DRAWN show is coming up this Thursday, and the images available are all posted up and available for reservation and pre-sale.

It's pretty refreshing to go through a studio purge right now. For the past couple of years I've been working steadily, but in an unfocused way. When I have no direction, I usually draw just to keep myself going in some capacity - and when in doubt draw naked ladies! It is for this reason that everything offered by Katherine and I for this sale is non-sequitur work. We won't be having a show/sale like this again, so get in now before we get back to serious work!

above : Cyril Sneer. I think this is the oldest item in the sale.

above : An attempt at other working methods for the Helpmeat series. Couldn't use oils during the winter, so I tried a few other things out.

above : Dumps Like a Truck. Yeah, I could have learned the same principals just as easily from other objects.

above : Cause. When I need to loosen up my drawings I usually go to big paper with charcoal or ink.
